Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

Acid Reflux / GERD Board Index

Hello,
Have you ever heard of a hiatal hernia? You can have all the symptoms you mention and more. A hiatal hernia occurs when the stomach gets pushed up because of stress, wrong food combinations, gas. and other reasons. It causes a kink in the esophagus, and causes much discomfort includeng referred pain to the shoulder, arm, and more. The meds can help wiyh the acid reflux but until the stomach is pulled back down where it belongs you will not fix the problem and get rid of the symptoms you describe. It is a simple procedure to move it down, for someone trained in natural health methods. Some people get relief by using a hot water bottle, because heat relaxes and in some clients, the stomach will move down by itself. Some herbs that are "miracles" for this problem are slippery elm, and aloe vera juice. If you have never used natural health methods I'm sure you are probably wondering what tree I fell out of! I have used and taught these methods for over 20 years with great success. I hope you might be open minded enough to give it a try. What do you have to lose, except symptoms and a lot of anxiety.
Respectfully,

To 101Bub Newbie-

I would love to know if your reflux is gone from the manual adjustment of your hiatal hernia by a chiropractor! I have a med-sized slidiing hiatal hernia (and sores in my esophagus) and would love to be able to prevent an occurrence of all the pain I've suffered the last 5 months. I'm on Prevacid to prevent acid production to heal the sores but this is a temporary fix. Are there chiropractors that do this in NYC or Astoria, NY??
Thanks!

I have acid reflux, gerd, whatever it may be called and I am curious in some natural ways to get rid of this. I read about Granny Smith apples and they help sometimes, but not all of the time. The dr. prescribed me Nexium, but like I said, I would like something natural.
My symptoms are burning of the chest, tightening of the chest, shortness of breath and serious belching.

Thank you.
