Acid Reflux / GERD Board Index

Hi Tricia, and welcome. I'm a newbie, too, but have been having symptoms for several years. Last year I had exactly the pain you described, plus diaphragm fullness, vague pain when lying on stomach and some paresthesias in the last two digits on my left hand.

Got an US done to look at pancreas, liver, gall bladder, etc., and it came back negative. My physician said that the US is unsatisfactory for seeing stomach, and suggested that I try Zantac for two weeks. I think my discomfort went away on its own.

it returned again worse this year, almost feeling like angina, including a sharp almost galvanic rib pain on the lower right rib cage rim whenever I lay on that side. Tried Zantac. no good. Did notice reflux, finally. Tried Prilosec, and it helped.

After a week's worth of Prilosec, I had an EGD that showed a normal esophagus but moderate gastritis with erosions. I am to take Prilosec for a total of four weeks. My symptoms are gone, now, and I have a week to go.

Look up gastritis and follow suggestions for home treatment of it. Give it a week or two trial, and call your doctor. Good luck.
