... I googled it for you. Seems it is an antidepressant. Possibly doc thinks your symptoms are due to stress which is very possible. there are a few people on this board that have found relaxation techniques help better than meds. ... I've been on all PPI's over the course of my battle with reflux. Prilosec, Protonix, Prevacid, Nexium, Aciphex, Zegrid, and Kapidex. My time on each of these was a minumum of one month and up to 4 years. I agree that it is a very individual thing in response to any of the PPI's. ... Update...talked with my physician today (general medical Doc and not a GI Doc). He recommended switching to Protonix and Carafate, so I'll give it a try. Also, he said that Tums-like products can actually make reflux worse because they contain calcium and the smooth muscles controlling your esophagus opening are impaired by excess calcium. So, no Tums or Zantac. Thoughts?? (4 replies)
