... there is a toothpaste and gargle called therarx, i just started using it a week ago. It removes that thick white/yellow gunk on back of tongue--it is sold everywhere walmart, cvs...etc.. maybe the metal/yucky test is sulfur build up?? It is worth a try. I have noticed certain foods make it worse -
pizza, cheese, tomatoes, milk, eggs, garlic, onions, chocolate, tea.......
However, even when I avoid these things the taste is still present - almost constantly but lessened. Would that be possible with GERD?

... Mrspinkrat, I believe you have several of the classic signs of acid reflux. First, the bitter acidic taste; second, excess phlegm in the throat absent any other obvious causes; and third, a major flare up of symptoms after eating spicy, fattening foods. Yes, I have gerd and you can have some or just one symptom, and it can be ongoing for a while. Sorry to hear about this. ... (9 replies)
