... It could be GERD, it could be something more serious, but the most likely cause from all that you say is that it is stress. Stress interupts the normal functioning of the stomach and can cause the lump feeling, which is not a real lump. Doctors will probably offer you proton pump inhibitors, a drug which you should only take if you really need it. It sounds like you don't... (2 replies)

Funny you say posture - my primary care doc, ENT (who did his fellowship in LPR reflux) and dentist (who specializes in TMJ) pointed my in the direction of physical therapy - must be a specialist who knows TMJ, and there are only a few around. ... Hi, Just read through your post again, Hiatal Hernia is a probability, I have one and the same symptoms can apply. Another thought! PPIs should be continued for a few weeks and rather than stop (COLDTURKEY) so to speak, its a good idea to cut back on them slowly . Like half dose for a week and then one every other day.
