... If memory serves, Zantac only works for 8 hours. If you are having this many problems, you need to be on a PPI. I've taken almost all of them over the last 16 years with varying results. ... (7 replies)

I went to the hospital and they told me to be in contact with my doctor and just keep taking Zantac and Maalox or Tums until then. Do they test for h.pylori through blood work? ... (7 replies)
Nexium + Zantac?

... I've pretty well run the gammut of PPIs. Prilosec, Protonix, Aciphex, and now Nexium, that I remember. None of them helped except Aciphex and Nexium. I'm considering going back to was fairly close, but I don't think I had as many side effects. ... (5 replies)
... I think the consensus is to NOT get off the PPI's cold turkey. I almost did that and have suffered a lot. I tapered off a bit and then went from the PPI to Zantac and experienced a heck of a rebound. ... (110 replies)

Gerd = cramps?

... yeah i cant even take meds because they are worse than the benefit. I still get cramps in my left chest around my heart and sometimes palpatations even without hte meds, i just hope i have no cardiac problems even though they say i dont. ... (3 replies)

... Yes! I have tons of cramps and stiffness and diarrhea from taking these meds. I have had leg cramps, headaches, diarrhea, heart palpatations, shakiness and anxiety. These meds are loaded with things that cause side effects. ... (3 replies)
