... What I have read and have experienced is that it is almost impossible to get pregnant if you have Addison's disease or thyroid disease and you are not under treatment. Once I was diagnosed (first with Hashimoto) and then appx a year later with AD, I got pregnant. It took about 7 months. ... Hi Lisa, Thanks :) I started off at a higher dose also (I think 25mgs), they will cut you back after they know what is working. The 15 mg was working fine, I still take a nap when my son does, but I'm not sure if it's the addison's or the kid :) I did gain 20lb after I gave birth (I also brestfeed, which increases your appetitte), but I leved off after 6month and... ... Hi KC, Yes, I was on the shot too, it took 1 year after to get pregnant, but going on the pill helped and I got pregnant only 3months after getting off the pill. Anyway, You won't just go through hell if you don't take meds, you could die (that's what my doc told me would have happened if I didn't start the cortef), you might do more harm then good. ... son's, aldosterone is low and I don't know how that would fit with your now LOW potassium but most primary Addisonians have to take Florinef in addition to their cortef to control their fluid balance and electrolytes. That may be something to look into if you haven't already. ... (1 replies)

... A few things first: 1. Who is prescribing you medication if you've self-diagnosed? If you have true Addison's, you'll need more than Cortef, usually. The reason I ask is that you need to get your ACTH down. It'll be more difficult to treat if you don't have your hormones balanced. 2.
