... ng about 10 doctors, I am about to go to an endocrinologist this week. I just got a copy of all my bloodwork from my Family Practice Doctor and it looks like my Cortisol Stim. Test is high to me. ... Thanks for your reply. My son is getting his cortisol stim test (what the doc called it...I believe that is the same as the ACTH stim test) on Monday. I'm reading through a lot of info trying to understand all of this and looking for answers. If his adrenal problems are traced back to Flovent, I'm hoping that it can be reversed and not a permanent suppression. Good luck to... (13 replies)

... I agree with Summer. The symptoms are shared by many different diseases. It took me 20 years and a 3rd test before i was diagnosed. About 8 years ago I started passing out more frequently, electrolytes got really screwy, and I got a Winter tan. You need to lose about 95% of function before the test is positive. i went through the dr mill, and was told it was all in my... (2 replies)
... You had two different tests which found your cortisol to be within normal levels and to be responding to ACTH. I doubt it's an error. ... (2 replies)

... In my opinion, a blood test is not sufficient to diagnose low cortisol. I would recommend a saliva test throughout the day, and an adrenal stimulation test - which has to be conducted in the hospital because they have to draw your blood at specific times after trying to stimulate your adrenals. My problem is actually my pituitary gland, which is not properly stimulating... (2 replies)
... I think your stim test results indicate a possible secondary Addison's- which is due to pituitary insufficiency of ACTH. Your baseline ACTH, which comes from pituitary gland in brain, is low. When given ACTH, your adrenal glands respond normally. So the adrenals themselves are ok, but the pituitary is not producing sufficient ACTH to stimulate the adrenals adequately, hence... (1 replies)

... Addison's.... But your test look normal to me did they do an actual ACTH level. that sometimes is how you can distinguish primary vs secondary. THE ACTH stim tests are more for primary and sometimes really don't tell us much if its not primary. ... (3 replies)
... In your opinions, are my cortisol and acth numbers normal, or should I pursue additional testing to rule out secondary AI? ... (3 replies)
... The crazy thing is that I felt great during the stim test. Felt the most normal I've been for years. ... (3 replies)
... Criteria that require a minimum increment in serum cortisol are invalid , because patients who have a high basal serum cortisol concentration, due either to normal circadian rhythmicity or acute stress, may be nearly maximally stimulated and unable to increase cortisol secretion further. ... (3 replies)
... According to the usual interpretation, your results indicate adrenal insufficiency because the ACTH should get your cortisol up to at least double your baseline level at 60 min. and yours is less than that. ... (3 replies)
