I had very low adrenal steriod results from a 24hr urine test given by Dr Therese Hertoghue and very low saliva cortisol results. I've had hypotension all me life. Then my TSH was 4.1 and my Ft3 was 297 (240- 420 range) and low FT3/ rt3 ratio - 14.9. So my Doc started me on 5mgs medrol- I was so tired I... (7 replies)
... I will give you more food for thought, some of which agrees, some of which sort of disagrees (respectfully) the other poster, and why. A replacement dose is usually around 20mg of hydrocortisone. Hydrocortisone lasts around 6-8 hours. Medrol, on the other hand, only lasts 2.4 to 3.5 hours so I am not sure that is an advantage. When comparing steroids - you always have to... (7 replies)

... Most doctors try to mimmick the body's natural release of cortisol or should. If your body functions normally then you would have the most cortisol when you first get up and it will decline as the day goes on. So I guess that is why your doctor is tapering it like that. I started taking Cortef 3 days ago - 10 mg AM, 5 mg w/lunch, and 5 mg w/dinner. However, I haven't been able... (2 replies)
