... I have had Addison's disease for almost 50 years. For the bulk of that time I have taken the standard 20mg in the morning and 10 mg at night dose. However I often times even missed my 10mg evening dose and once I recognized it corrected the situation. Of course I want to take the minimum dosage. I also take Florinef; just enough to keep my feet from swelling. I had major... (1 replies)
... Perhaps the steroids effect different bodies in different ways. I agree that prednisone is more difficult to digest and is more difficult on your liver, but I have felt the difference in terms of longer-acting affects. Over the past few days I have switched out my evening dose of hydrocortisone (10mg) for 2 mg of prednisone, and for the first time in a looooong time, I've... (8 replies)

... Hi Pacerpilot, I just wanted to say I went to my endo and she started weaning me off of the prednisone in Oct. She started weaning me off by 1mg every 2 weeks and this Tuesday I will be down to 1mg in the morning. She is a great endo. Does my ACTH levels monthly and now biweekly. The last she checked my ACTH was 3.9, so my pituatary gland is kicking in. I really feel... (8 replies)
... Hi Missy, You mentioned that you had an adrenal crisis after surgery. That's really not that uncommon. However, do you have addisons disease or are you being treated because your adrenals aren't doing their thing because of the steriod treatment from the adrenal crisis. These are two very different conditions. If you don't have addisons, then yes, wean off the steriods.... (8 replies)

... I hope you are getting the answers that you need regarding this disease. Hydrocortisone has given me my life back and I take 35 mg per day (an extra 5-10 on days when sleep is comprimised). I know that this is considered a high dose but anything less does not allow me to have a normal functioning day. I'm really in touch with my body and can tell the second that I need my... ... 20mg is not a low dose IMHO... That is a complete replacement dose for a lot of people. I have no adrenals and while I currently take 25... I was taking 20 for a while. Also, I would never ever take a dose at dinner... unless of course you do not want to sleep. :D I take my last dose at 3. It is 5mg. The normal body wants a large dose in the morning, and roughly half of... (3 replies)
... Well Mr. sleepy, maybe we can compare notes because I go to the FFC as well. I have Fibro/ CFS / hypothyroid/ Adrenal exhaustion / anemia/and they have suggested some things, but I have done alot of my own research about alot of this stuff. I too wish another Dr. would have RX'd this years ago - about 2002 or so is when I was diagnosed. It would have made a big difference for... (16 replies)
... I have been researching these and the more I learn the more I keep mixing them up and getting confused. I am trying to figure out dosage for each of them for low cortisol.... I fit ALLLLLL of the symptoms, but when I had the acth test done it was normal. Plus I eat a ton of salt, which I told them that. I asked them to check "whatever" gives the adrenal gland what it needs and... (1 replies)

... No emergency kit I had asked the doctor and he says I don't need one, which I find odd, but anyway he did mention adjusting my doses and the medical bracelet. ... (6 replies)
