... HI I'v had Addisons Disease since i was 17, sorry i have no idea about Anabolic Steroids but hope i can help with the cortisol I take 50mg a day and know all about weight issue. The cortisal is really just doing what your body should do. I cant help but think if your not taking the correct amount of cortisol you adding pressure to your body and add to that the anabolic... ... Yea ive had addisons since 2004, i was 79 pounds when they diagnosed me, then they put me on Hydrocortisone, i went clear up to 140 pounds, i never wieghed more than 100 my whole life! But heck i would rather be a little over wieght than be that sick ever agian! So then my endo put me on prednisone, and ive been on that for 5 years now, and i did better with my wieght being on... ... I believe that normal replacement values (what the body needs with no adrenal function) is 7 mg prednisone, or 30 mg hydrocortisone, daily. but everyone is different, some need more some need less, must listen to your body. (6 replies)

... I have the same issues as you on prednisone. What is cortef exacty? Is it similar to prednisone & hydrocortisone? Wish I could offer advice, but I'm having same things happen with me. ... I was first started on predinose too and didn't do well on it at all, and ended up in crisis and almost dead in the ER... I would suggest you start taking hydrocortisone instead, which is bio-identical, meaning your body doesn't have to convert it like it does prednisone. It also helps with low BP, but if it doesn't help enough you need to get on fludrocortisone (Florinef)... (7 replies)
