... Transderm patch is for nausea and there are a number of medications you can not use with it including Trazodon which is a good medication for mild agitation. ... Some take statin with no difficulty... I have a sister that takes it and I think she is ok ;) It is just one of the nasty side effects that can happen. With Cholesterol being brain food, and statin reducing the levels while not doing anything significant to prevent plaque in the short term... what's the point? Five weeks later..

... Well, it's been 5 weeks now since mom fell and broke her hip. She has been in rehab for 4 weeks. Her Assisted Living facility originally said they want her back like she was before ...walking...going to bathroom on her own. Ain't gonna happen. Not for awhile at least. Rehab is not the place for someone with Alzheimers. As we have often found, they do not understand... (23 replies)

... Corky, you might want to try some medication other than Seroquel and Respidol with the PRN Ativan for the agitation and combativeness. That is what Mom was on when she ended up in the Psych Unit for just what you mentioned. ... (8 replies)

... they have both been on along with Depakote. Mom is also on an anti depressant which seems to do well for her. I am trying to remember which ones does what.... Respidol is an anti psychotic. Seroquel is for bipolar depression. Depakote is actually a seizure medication but is also used for the manic plase of bipolar disorder. ... (35 replies)

I am taking her to the Nueorologist and then to get xrays on her knees. Do you ever get tired Deb of hauling them around and around. I feel overwhelemed ar all these apts and trips. ... a hand full of samples and kick backs. So if you have something that is working hang on to it. I have heard good things about the Trazadone though. Dad is on Respidol and Seroquel which is evidently a typical treatment. As soon as the blood test is back I am going to have further discussion about reducing some of these meds. ... (345 replies)

... THanks Deb. We have found a great doc. but as you the psych has NOT done her any good! She repeats what she thinks the doc has said. She was upset that this new doc was talking to me rather then her (she thinks) but she really wasn't listening. The doc seems to be very caring and has ran several tests on her. ... Frustrated, yes a small difference in dosage can make a big difference in behavior. The other thing you have to remember is that the body will adjust to the medication. If they are a little sleepy at first that will usually wear off. It absolutely did with mom. Dad was on Respidol, his dosage reduced, and he started throwing water pitchers and other inappropriate responses... (345 replies)

... She is perscribed 2 a day (4 mg total) And we cut the dose to 3 mg and she is a BITCH! :mad:She won't do anything for anyone! i AM going to call the doc and let her know. I just wish there was another med to take it's place. ... Dad is still sleeping. He is a bit more awake at times then he was when he came back from the hospital and has had a few evenings of agitation since the respidol was reduced. We are just waiting to see a pattern after he settles down. ... (5 replies)
