kaeli32--It is not the caffeine, but the phytates and tannins that inhibit absorption with tea. Now, coffee also decreases the absorption, but to a lesser degree and when made weaker the absorption is even less. Tea is really potent and decreases absorption to 60'ish% which is really high. If you drink it 1 hour before NOT AFTER a meal you should be okay. The further away from iron meals and supplements the better! It makes a big difference. Some people have to stop all together.
