Anemia???

... I am so stressed over the fact that I was diagnosed with borderline anemia about a year And a half ago. I had a colonoscopy to rule out that that was the cause of the anemia. Colonoscopy was ok. Mild diverticulosis. I might say I am 60 years old. ... (5 replies)

... Hello, I am a 45 year old male in otherwise great health and good physical condition. I have been diagnosed with IDA. It had not been picked up in my blood work before, but last year my hemoglobin was around 8. I have been taking Ferrous Sulfate supplements for over 3 months and I don't feel any better. My doctor has recommended iron infusion treatments, but I want to... (1 replies)

... I wouldn't imagine that if I were you. My thought is that if you are having a colonoscopy, doctor is looking for a reason why you are losing blood. You may be like me and simply have internal hemorrhoids. That would account for the blood loss and have nothing to do with having cancer. (8 replies)
... I am going for a colonoscopy this week to try and determine cause of anemia. My hemoglobin is low normal but my iron stores and ferritin are low. Scared to death it could be colon cancer. ... (8 replies)
... Of course it's unsettling. I understand that. I've had that same experience many times. Just hearing that sort of thing is upsetting. I'm guessing when you start taking iron, you'll feel much better. I take folic acid too but it is the combination of the iron, folic acid and vitamin B-12 that seems to be working so well for me. I don't expect to have another lab until near... (90 replies)
... Thanks rico. My hematologist didn't think it was IDA but it could be folic acid deficiency which is why I am taking folate supplements. She did mention I may need to start iron after next set of labs are taken. I will have those labs taken before my colonoscopy. She doesn't know yet that I have the test scheduled. I know my MIL isn't a blood relative but it's just... (90 replies)

... No we don't get a break! Its hell for us! The colonoscopy is not bad at all, some of my coworkers have talked about them before and the worst part is drinking the barium to clean out your colon. ... (90 replies)
... Periods then menopause haha. Hope your iron is better..but if not, the infusions may be a good option. I am going to Gastro and most likely need a colonoscopy to determine source of bleeding. Too stressful worrying. ... (90 replies)
... ly from hemorrhoids and nothing else. I don't have nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain.like my doctor asked. Nor any weight loss. I am hoping he will suggest a colonoscopy and everything will be clear. ... (90 replies)
... ng so I can deal with it. But there is a big difference between a hemorrhoid and colon cancer but they can have the same symptoms. I really don't want to get a colonoscopy but I guess i have no choice. ... (90 replies)
... Tired, Don't get nervous, colon cancer i would think would have some symptoms like maybe weight loss and other symptoms, its probably hemmroids. Since taking iron, i also been suffering with those things. And internal ones you dont even know you have, but its so common. I never had a colonoscopy, but I think the worst part of it is drinking the stuff to clean you out and... (90 replies)
... mple test which tested positive for blood. She also said I had internal hemorroids..again tmi sorry. She is sending me to a specialist and recommends getting a colonoscopy to be sure even though she is fairly sure the bleeding was related to hemorrhoids. ... (90 replies)
... horrible diet so working to change that ..maybe that's part of the problem.
