I had to go off of my iron before my surgery (June 6, so 7 weeks ago) and stay off of it for a week or 2 after because having a full abdominal hysterectomy messes up your bowels for a while and iron will constipate you. ... I have never heard that before (where did you get that info) but I think you are very right. Becasue I got my blood work back and my hemoglobin had shot up from 8- 14 in a matter of 2 weeks.
