... Yes, go see a specialist. If you are not getting answers from your doctor and you are not seeing any improvement I would definitely get another opinion. I've been having the same problems as you for the last three years (along with some other problems) and have not gotten answers from any doctors on what is really wrong with me. ... It's crazy that there are doctors out there who tell their patients they're ok when their serum ferritin comes back at the lower levels. Anyone who's serum ferritin is below 70ng/dl MUST take iron supplements. Your body will divert iron away from your hair and nails and skin if your serum ferritin is below 70ng/dl. You will not receive the entire benefit of any physical... (24 replies)

... I don't think this is related to your iron. Boils on the skin that require antibiotics is indicative of a skin-level staph infection. I supposed if you were really, really anemic, your immune system could be down which would make you prone to this, but that doesn't sound like the issue. (1 replies)

... Jan, It takes awhile to feel better after you start getting the B12 shots. I wanted it to work within hours, lol. But in reality it took a few weeks. And I supplemented with sublingual B-12 as well as a multi-B complex. My B levels are now mid 800's and I no longer have the strange symptoms: muscle jerks, dry skin, irritability, heart palps, dizziness. I'm still tired, but I... (6 replies)
... Something else to watch for is yellowing of your skin or eyes (also called jaundice). Both Merimac and Jill are giving you good advice which you should follow by seeing a hematologist if you are not improving very soon. Other possible symptoms of anemia I have are really pale skin, restless legs and sometimes dizzy spells. Can anemia be related to menstrual cycles? I've noticed that I feel/look the worst... ... I've been feeling sick for some time now, and it gets much worse daily. I have a few things going on, but nothing the doctors have been able to nail down completely just yet.
