... Nyxie--I think that having the IF test is a good idea. It's easy and will tell you if this is the cause of your problems. I have a friend that has B-12 and iron deficiency and they cannot find a cause, she even has IF when tested. That's really weird. She has had most all of the testing. I don't understand why your GP would not look further into your thyroid issue, a thryroid condition can contribute to depression but that is because your system is is not working properly. ... ... The other thing to remember is that B12 needs folic acid and potassium and the other B vitamins to be in synch to be properly absorbed. So if you're getting B12 shots but you're low in potassium or other B vitamins, the B12 may not be getting used properly. It has to all be in synch. ... (15 replies)

... hey both of you If you have pernicous anemia, it means that your stomach will not take up b12 vitamins because 1 you don't have intrinsiq faktor or 2 the cells which take up b12 are not working both things mean that you will have to take b12 shots (to get the b12 directly into the muscles) normally the values need to be in between 150 an 750 but lots of people feel...
