... I have been feeling out of sorts for the last few months. Angry aboout even the littlest things. It can be something as simple as me telling my teenager to pick something up and she doesn't. I can honestly flip out in anger at her for this. Also feeling a bit down.....maybe a bit depressed. ... (1 replies)

... Have you discussed with him how inappropriate it is to throw things? What is his explanation for the outburst? That would frighten me too. Reinforce calm communication. Priveledges can be revoked. Don't reward behavior you would not want repeated. He should know poor behavior has consequences. He is still 15 and has to comply to rules and not become violent. Throwing... (10 replies)

... I am 22 yrs and I still live at home while I am going to school and saving up money with my job. I love my parents to death but since his age I am very short temper at home. Its most likely a phase he is going through because he is at the age where he want to have his space and freedom. When you say the word "NO" that just set himself off into a reaction where he thinks... (10 replies)

... Hi USER, your suggestion/opinion is especially appreciated since you are my son's age. He's clear why I tell him he can't do something. He always asks why! When I would ask my parents why as a child, they would always say "because I said so." I hated that, so I don't do it to my children. Again, thanks for your input. (10 replies)

... I'm kinda torn on this one. First of all I think it's great that you allow him to express himself and then wait until calm to handle the situation. His crying and appologies after the fact show he has remorse and didn't mean to cause a scene. It sounds to me like it could be related to hormones and the struggles that come with puberty and finding your place in life. The... (10 replies)

... toodalootoo, I'm a 38 year old male and when I was 15, I had to respect my parents decisions; if I didn't and had an outburst, I'd get my head knocked off. My parents put up with NO crap whatsoever. I remember getting the belt on many occasions - not to mention a hard wooden/plastic spoon across my behind. I learned really fast to have respect for my parents, especially in... (10 replies)

... I have been experiencing obsessive, ruminating anger since I was a teenager (33 now). I don't take it out on others but I get lost and absorbed in these thoughts, punching walls, etc, becoming distracted when I should be productive, sometimes while driving. I was in a wonderful relationship but my tendency to get lost in these thoughts and my need to vent eventually became too... (5 replies)
