I too have facet joint arthritis at L3, L4 and L5. I tried methylprednisone injections twice with no results. I tried nerve blocks twice with short term relief, which made me eligible for Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA). It has been 4 days since I had RFA (right side only) and I do feel better. I will go back to Pain Management in April to do the left side. RFA is supposed last for up to 6 months.
With RFA, they stick a needle in the facet joint and burn the nerve with electric current. Sounds worse than it is. It is out patient, takes about 20 minutes and you're able to drive yourself home. There is mild discomfort at the injection site the next day.
It's only been 4 days, so I can't recommend, but I do feel better.
