Possible RA?
Aug 12, 2017
I'm new here, hoping someone can give me a little encouragement/guidance.

I think I may have RA, and my doc is on the process of running blood tests. About 2 weeks ago, I woke up with stiff muscles. For a week, the muscle stiffness was present 90% of the time, and I was having spasms in my legs, like they were close to cramping. Sometimes I would feel normal for a few hours, but it always came back. I recorded a low grade fever off and on throughout the week.

Last weekend, I had a bad bout of muscle and joint pain all over my body, along with a low grade fever. The fever lasted a very short time and went away. Then it came back the next day. I also had chills - basically felt like the flu, but no respiratory symptoms. Went to the doc and she took a lot of blood for tests, but she has no idea what's wrong.

I've now had arthritis all over for a week now, and weakness. I'm having a hard time keeping my arms up on the steering wheel while driving, holding heavy things, or leaning on them. My legs feel weak as well. I'm having joint pain in my hands, wrists, shoulders, elbows, knees, and the bottom of my feet hurt. I'm also sensitive to touch - holding my iPhone is uncomfortable to the skin on my hands. The arthritis seems mirrored on both sides of my body for he most part.

Last night I couldn't sleep on my left side because it hurt my hip. In fact, it was difficult to find a comfortable position at all. I've had arthritis off and on since I was a teenager, and I'm 36 now. It's almost always been on both sides of the body. It used to come on for a few hours to a couple days, and was more localized to one area, like my hands. Now, I get these attacks of arthritis bodywide. I've also got terrible fatigue, even though I slept 8 hours last night. I feel like I have anemia, even though I don't. I also get out of breath quickly during exercise - something that didn't used to happen.

One last thing - I've also had an elevated WBC for about 5 years. It's stayed in the 12,000-13,000 range, and that's the only abnormality. Red blood cells and platelets are normal. I've had blood tests for RA and auto-immune before and they were negative. Is it time I see a rheumatologist? My GP doesn't seem to be getting anywhere.
