I've started on Amitriptyline about a year ago , my doc prescribed 10 mg which did nothing = but when he increased the dosage to 50 mg it worked fine ..... don't really like taking any pill regularly and occasionally , when I feel physically tired I try to manage without but nearly always get a disturbed sleepless night ......

... Hi, I have tried it in the past for pain & sleep. Unfortunately, it did nothing for my pain, but yes, it did put me right to sleep, which was great! And my sleep was quite refreshing! Except if I had alot of pain (especially nerve pain), I still woke up. But for the most part I could time when I wanted to fall asleep by taking the pill one hour ahead of time. Then like... ... I have taken this med bfore but not for arthritis. It does make you sleepy- In fact that's why it was prescribed to me. Why did she tell you to take it at 5:00? May be try it right before bed instead but check with the doctor first, maybe she had a reason for the 5pm time?? (7 replies)
