... The symptoms you describe could be from RA, but this is a rather sudden presentation of it. Hopefully her Dr included tests related to RA in the bloodwork. If he didn't, he may be able to add those on to the blood the lab already has. In the meantime, some antiinflammatory medication like Naproxen (OTC) might help with the headache, fever and joint pains and swelling. I hope... (3 replies)

You forgot to mention what blood work/ MRI showed and if showed anything at all.
I have bad neck problem; between OA, RA and benign tumor pressing on C-level I get neck pain very often. If this would be just neck pain involved, would be easier to handle but like we all know, it causes severe headache, I get them so bad that can't pick my head upj off pillow.

... There may also be an undelying condition that will not show up on Xrays. Maybe a change of meds is all you need. Trying to cut back on meds is also not helping arthritis at all.
