... Hi Wawa, I wasn't on Enbrel, but, have been on other biologics..Humira and Simponi. I had to switch from Humira to Simponi because the Humira stopped working. ... Was your injection SubQ? I have never been able to administer the MTX either. Hubby had to do them. They did not hurt at all. Hope this one isn't too bad. My pain tolerance is not good and I have a phobia with needles. My sister is also on Orencia. Her RA is progressing to the severe stage. I am desperately trying to stop mine from going any further. Thanks for the input. I... (2 replies)

... I am 37 and have had RA for the past 5 years. I was on Humira for about 3 years but now take Orencia. Humira worked very well for me and I noticed the difference rather quickly. One thing I have to be honest about, though, is the injections were painful. ... (2 replies)

... Luc... as a mom to a mom... I read what Jenny wrote, she is 100% right. We have to do what we have to do, dear. When I was 12 (I am 56 now) I was diagnosed with JRA, had medications for many years and now they discover biologics. Yes, it sounds scary, I get this. But like Jenny said, people die from untreated RA as well. I moved from Europe to US 22 years ago. In the... (6 replies)

... What is your son's diagnosis...JRA? Inflammatory arthritic diseases can kill too. And disable fast.....my primary doc has JRA and is very disabled by it as an adult. The side effects sound very scary but in fact, they are small. Everyone points to the incidence of cancer with biologics but if you do the math, the worst of these drugs causes cancer at a rate of .03%. And... (6 replies)

... My son is 12 and yesterday his doctor prescribed Humira. Methotrexate hasn't been working on it's own. I've been reading about this drug and I really need help. Seeing all the side effects and dangers of serious infections, it feels like in agreeing to this medication, I'm about to drastically shorten his life span. In my entire life, nothing has ever felt so wrong as this.... (6 replies)

... I would suggest trying something like Orencia(abatacept). Not a TNF inhibitor. Instead, it inhibits T-cells and -T-cells trigger cytokines so it covers all of them. I did not respond to the TNF inhibitors. Enbrel made me worse and I had an immediate allergic response to Humira. Since you had no response to Remicade, the I'd go elsewhere completely and try Orencia.... (20 replies)
... Since Remicade was a 'mab', I should try Enbrel since it's a 'cept'. Humira would be the same sort of drug since it's also a 'mab'. ... (20 replies)
... Hi, good to hear someone else is on Humira! I am very impressed that you can inject into your stomach - I can only do it in my leg and even that is becoming difficult. I know it's only psychological but i really struggle to do it. I am using the pre-filled pen too. :) (10 replies)
... Hi, I have been prescribed to try Humira, but I am terrified. I have multiple problems, back, neck disc issues and arthritis everywhere. But my blood tests are negative for RA or inflammation, but I feel horrible. Have swelling, can barely move at this point. This past year, 2009 I have been in a major decline. No longer can do anything, cry all the time in pain--back,... (10 replies)
... and have to wait until beg of Feb to see what they are going to do for me. Not happy, as will be feeling rough for christmas, but I have no choice. I hope the Humira works well for you. ... Hello, Yes, I have had dvt heparin jabs in my stomach twice now, and the Humira jab in my stomach was similar (not as stingy). It is much better in your thigh, hold a bit of your leg in your hand and do the injection, it doesnt sting as much. Will let you know how I get on. Nice to talk to someone in uk having Humira. Keep in touch. Ronnie (10 replies)
