... I was diagnosed with RA a year ago. I first started with methotrexate injections which helped for a short time. My rheumatologist then prescribed Humira 40mg and then Humira w/trexall. Remecade Treatment
Apr 24, 2001
... Stiffjim (32yrs old)- I have been on methotrexate and vioxx for a few years to treat Psoriatic Arthritis. It tends to work fairly well just so long as I never forget to take my vioxx. I am considering a new treatment (Remecade) which is administered via an IV at the hospital. It takes 2 hrs, once every 2 weeks to start, then every month and eventually treatment every 2... ... I was on enbrel for 2 years. I do not have a family history and have been genetically tested which was negative. I was pre-menopausal and was on birth control pills. I am not over weight, exercise everyday and do not smoke. I was on methotrexate too so I guess this could have contributed but I think Enbrel is to blame. (it is an anti tumor necrosis factor so it blocks your... (19 replies)
... sorry to hear about your breast cancer. Hope it all turns out well for you. I was on Enbrel for 8 years and it worked very well for me. I stopped it because it caused me to gain a lot of weight. How long were you on Enbrel and was your breast cancer caused just by Enbrel or do you have other risk factors like family history, hormone therapy, etc. (19 replies)
... Thanks for the post. I just thought it would -prevent infection to boost the immune system. (2 replies)
... If you have an autoimmune disease you don't want to boost your immune system - it's already on overdrive. Ask your doc if it's OK for you. (most of the over-the-counter "immune boosters" don't work anyway) I just avoid infection wherever possible and keep my hands clean. I'd add I eat a balanced diet and exercise but that wouldn't be entirely (at all) truthful. ;) (2 replies)

... I have been on enbrel now about 5 months. I was scared at first to inject myself was it was no big deal at all. for the relief I get its worth it. the fatigue lifted straight away after the first injection. ... I've been on Remicade for 8 months now and it's working fine for me. When it came time to choose the fact that Remicade would be administered by an RN in the doctor's office with a doctor on staff made all the difference to me. It also helped that it's only every 2 months for about 2 hours. I have no interest in injecting myself if I can avoid it. I believe it's also been... (19 replies)
