... I've had RA for 40 years (since I was a kid). To stop the disease from progressing you really need to be on a disease modifying drug such as Enbrel or Remicaid. I was on Gold (Solgonal) for most of my life, and that stopped the RA from destroying and deforming my joints, gave me energy and alleviated the pain at least 85% of the time. It didn't get rid of all of it, so I... (10 replies)
... Has anyone read, "The Road Back" by Thomas McPherson Brown and Henry Scammell? I was first diagnosed with RA at 25yrs. For the last 2 years, I have been treating the symptoms of my RA by trying numerous medications. I am currently supposed to be on Humira 1xweek (double normal dose) and 10 pills of methotrexate/week (maximum dose). The next step for me would be to drop... (1 replies)
... Hi Kathy, I have been dealing with RA for the past 2 years. I feel as if I've tried everything. I am currently trying a mix of humira and methotrexate. I was told that methotrexate can deplete the body of folic acid, which can cause hair loss. To curb that, I am taking a supplement along with the methotrexate. I have not personally noticed any loss nor a texture... (11 replies)
... Remicade worked GREAT for me for almost 3 years... NO side effects. But a change of insurance bumped my $15 co-pay to over $700 per treatment (OUCH!!) However the new insurance allows the self injects (Enbrel and Humara) at $40.00 for 3 months worth!! (obviously they prefer prescriptions over office procedures!) It is only 2 injections into it, but so far the only side effect... (11 replies)
