... My 14 yr old son has been on the Asmanex Twisthaler for over a year and has done pretty well. He had to switch from Advair over to the Asmanex and it was an easy change. Sometimes if he doesn't breathe in deeply enough he will feel a light powder in his mouth. ... (5 replies)
... s me from getting a good night's sleep. Went back to my docs for an asthma review and he decided to change up my meds. I was on Qvar and have now been prescribed Asmanex as he wants me to try this before prescribing Advair due to all the side effects. ... (5 replies)
... My aunt had her first asthma attack in 2001 during a hike in the mountains. She didn't think it was asthma because she was an adult (50) and had never had it before. She had a few attacks and finally went to the doctor in 2002 and was diagnosed with asthma. He started her on meds but by the end of the month she was hospitalized with an attack. Things that set off the... (2 replies)

... Of course, the Asmanex wasn't working against the latest flare, and my meds just got switched again, this time to Symbicort HFA, so we'll see what happens next. ... (22 replies)
... OK, been on the Asmanex for almost a week, (I was actually off all meds for a week and a half after side effects became completely intolerable) but now it's making me hoarse again. I think if I'm only on 200 mcg per day of steroid, hoarseness doesn't happen to me, but that dosage isn't quite enough. Still, maybe the increase in asthma symptoms is worth it to have my voice... ... I may need to ask for that. I tried a decreased dose of the Flovent (which is the steroid-only component of Advair) and it led to increased use of the rescue inhaler. So my dose got upped and the hoarseness is back. It is still less than I was taking with the Advair, but apparently still enough to cause the hoarseness. I'm going to ask my Dr. about Asmanex. Thank you... (22 replies)
... got switched to Asmanex, which is a steroid only, and I'm already kicking myself for putting up with Advair for 3 months! No hoarseness, stomach is improving, and thus far asthma control is just as good. ... (22 replies)

... Singulair isn't meant to treat asthma alone in people that require daily medications, like flovent, asmanex and so on and so forth. It does help reduce symtoms and make attacks less severe. ... (10 replies)
... eplying. I have switched to Flovent Diskus 250 twice a day. It seems to be working pretty well. I am now on week three I think of it. I like how the company made advair diskus and flovent diskus. So one has salmuteral or however spell it and one just with flovent. ... (2 replies)
... I have been on lexapro and xanax for a year. My asthma 6 week ago started to bother me. My medical doctor gave me advair did not work than symbicort and now asmanex. One day I took no medicine and felt fine. Otherwise I am lightheaded and dizzy. What should I do? ... (0 replies)
... This is so ironic because I just saw a TV commercial for Advair. Ask your pulmonary dr about Asmanex. I switched to this in late 2006 from Advair because I learned Advair can incite acid reflux which I have . We all have different body chemistries but I have had no problems with Asmanex. ... I take singular, nasonex (not right now - gave me nosebleeds, which would have been messy over Christmas events - kind of pretty, though? ;)), astelin, asmanex, serevent, omexprozele (for heartburn/asthma), xopenix (nebulizer and inhaler). (10 replies)
... doesn't have the bronchodialtor that Advair has. Easier to adjust the medications separately. ... (2 replies)
... Yes, Red -- everyone with asthma should have a rescue ihnaler like Albuterol for those moments when it's needed. It should be carried with you at all times. Wheezing doesn't always require the use of Albuterol -- sometimes it passes uneventfully after a short time. But of course if you feel shortness of breath or real chest tightness than relief is called for. Your... (4 replies)
... FYI, the Advair issue is overwhelmingly in African Americans. My doctor won't prescribe it to them. ... (3 replies)
... I have been on Asmanex for a little over a year and it is working very well for me. I had been on Advair but I wanted to discontinue using it after hearing in Time that some people died from Advair. I believe it now has a black box warning. ... (3 replies)
... I find Asmanex very effective. I used to get terrible heart poundings from QVAR and Advair but find Asmanex seems to help with no discernable after effects. Of course I'm certain that all corticosteroids take their toll in time but one does have to breathe! ... (1 replies)
... I'm currently using Advair once a day and Singulair, but I'm still feeling a heaviness in my chest. My doctor only wants me to use Advair once a day due to my osteoporosis and steriods possibly causing bone loss. I just wondered if Asmanex was a better product or what the difference was. ... ... I have been on Asmanex since last October and for me it is a great med. I take 2 puffs in the AM and 2 in the PM and it has been very good for me. ... (5 replies)
