Back Problems Board Index

I am a 26 year old mother of 2. Three months back I injured my back while playing with the kids. The pain was excruciating. I couldn't sit, I could hardly stand and laying down to sleep was almost as bad. I have shooting pains all the way to my toes. My back burns and tingles everywhere. I went through 3 weeks of PT before my therapist told me he didn't want to see me anymore until I have had further studies done. I then had CT scan which only showed a tiny bulging disc on my L5-S1 and the doctors told me I was in more pain than I should be for just that. So I went on a lot of different anti inflammatorys and steroids and pain meds. Nothing helped. I finally got my MRI ordered about a month ago and just got my report today. I don't see my doctor to go over the results for 3 more weeks. I am just dying in pain and curious as if anyone can help me understand my report.

Interpretation: There is mild chronic anterior wedging of the T11 vertebral body. There is straightening of the thoracic kyphosis. Alignment is otherwise anatomic. There is a mild multilevel degenerative disc desiccation.

At C5-6, there is mild disc bulging but no stenosis.

At T6-7, there is a small left paracentral disc protrusion but no appreciable canal or neural foraminal stenosis.

At T7-8, there is a small left paracentral disc protrusion with mild mass effect on the cord.

At T8-9, there is a small left paracentral disc protrusion with a mass effect on the thecal sac.

At T9-10, there is a disc bulging and a small right paracentral disc protrusion.

At T11-12, there is prominent facet arthropathy but no significant stenosis.

There is disc desiccation at T10-11 and L5-S1

At L5-S1, there is a disc bulging and a small left paracentral disc protrusion.

All of that seems quiet a bit more than just a small bulging disc at my L5-S1 which they previously thought...

At my last appointment my doctor told me that is my MRI came back worse than the CT scan then he was sending me to a Neurosurgeon. And if it wasn't worse then he was referring me to a pain clinic if im still in so much pain. But from this report Im guessing its worse than what we first thought. But I don't want to go to a pain clinic either.
