... Hello Everyone, I'm so scared. Had a Microdisectomy On L4/L5 in December 2015. Two weeks, mid Feburary, ago I strained pretty hard having a bowel movement. Very bad back n leg pain that evening n the following days. I called my surgeon n he put me on a steroid pack. I finished that 3 days ago. Still have back pain feeling stiff but the pain in my calf is the worst. Pain... (9 replies)
... What Exercise? I did take a Melaxicam last night and am feeling alot better today. I'm a dental hygienist so bending and twisting is part of my job although I try to use proper posture. (9 replies)
... I had sciatic pain for the better part of six years, but not due to a disc. I had severe central canal stenosis and spondylolisthesis at L4-5. Due to the instability caused by the spondylolisthesis, my first surgery was a fusion. While the fusion was medically successful, it did not resolve the sciatic pain, so I kept looking for answers. So I went through a couple more... (9 replies)

... Thank you for getting back to me. I'm crying because at least I know someone cares. My herniation was so bad n I went thru two injections n 6 wks of physical therapy. The second therapist recommended that I see a surgeon right away n I was not showing improvement with the PT. I felt like I was just a number so I went to another PT who pressed very hard on my back like she... (9 replies)
... In most places in the world, a disc herniation is rarely addressed surgically unless there is severe root compression. They treat with conservative measures such as a course of physical therapy, a series of epidural steroid injections, oral medications and perhaps some alternate therapies. My husband ruptured a disc almost 20 years ago on the day before Christmas. Both... (9 replies)
... The surgeon said I should start getting relief in 4-6 weeks. Do these really do get better on their own? I'm so scared. He talked about getting an epidural spine injection n said that can help a lot. I had 2 the first time around n they did nothing. habe you seen herniated discs get resorted by the body over time? I just need some assurance. (9 replies)
... The reason the surgeon doesn't want to rush into surgery is because second herniations often end up with third herniations and then you have to fuse. He wants to give your body a chance to heal on its own so you hopefully won't need additional surgery. It is not a smart practice to keep operating. Success rates tend to go down with each additional surgery and the risk for... (9 replies)
... Yes, my MRI shows I do have another herniation. Pain is 3/10. Dr wants to watch n see if it will get better on its own. He said about the white blood cells eating the fragment that has herniated. He wants me to take a strong anti inflammatory for 4-6 wks. Pain instead too bad but it was annoying last night trying to sleep. I had to take a tramadol n don't want to have... (9 replies)

What I am experiencing is this horrible "sour" achiness in my back and down my legs...sometimes down to my feet. It wakes me up at night. The only thing that relieves this pain is 2... (1 replies)

... My 24 year old son just had a l-5 S-1 microdisectomy today. The surgeon said that the nerve root was very inflamed and angry but once he removed the herniated part of the disc, the nerve root immediately looked normal. Now my son has a lot of post surgical pain but for the first time in 7 months he does not seem to have sciattica. How many days does it take before you are... (3 replies)
... Any advice appreciated. I had microdisectomy l5-s1/ hemilaminectomy 8 months ago. Surgery per say went well. I still have sciatica here and there. I would love to go for a longer period but it... (18 replies)

... What is the best way to clean hardwood floors? Meaning the safest way. I am5 1/2 weeks post hemi-laminectomy/microdisectomy. I ask because i spilled a half gallon of oj this morning and it went every where. I cleaned it up on hands and knees with no excessive stretching or reaching instead of mopping. Prior to surgery this is how i would have normally cleaned my hardwoods.... (1 replies)
... I am sorry you are still experiencing your sciatic pain. I know many wake up and have total relief...two laminectomies/discectomies later I can tell you that has not been my experience or many others...and this should not panic you, its just as normal as total relief right away, depending on each persons own set of issues. Such as how compressed and therefore bruised your... (7 replies)
