... Hi Fran It never hurts to get a 2nd opinion from another doctor. I would also suggest asking doctor if you should go to physical therapy. Maybe they can help with some stretching and back specific exercises to get you feeling better. I suggest not using the trainers at a gym as they are not usually the best with working with persons with specific injuries (at least from... (6 replies)
... hardware removal 1 year later due to the L5 S1 herniating with a nerve impinged with a side of a microdisecktomy. The microdisectomy didn't work so last December had it fused. About 2 months ago started having the worst leg cramps ever in the right leg! only at night. ... (2 replies)

... Hi all. I had a microdisectomy April 18 2013 L5S1. I had originally herniated in OCtober 2012. I tried PT it did not help at all it actually made things worse. ... (10 replies)
... Are you doing a course of physical therapy? Has your surgeon given you any reason to hope this disc could heal on its own? Was he talking about another discectomy or did he mention fusion? On Friday I just had my second eye operated on for cataracts that I developed from taking so many steroids -- I waited a long time before I agreed to my first spine surgery! (10 replies)

... did you get a second micrdisectomy?? (10 replies)
... I had a disc that broke and 2 wks after surgery broke again so I had surgery again. I would also say try to avoid surgery bc the more disc u lose the more of a chance u can have bone on bone causing pain and probably a fusion. (10 replies)
... You are very early post surgery, its a very traumatic operation and you may get plenty of scares. However I reherniated soon after, cant put a date on it because it was lost in the mess of trying to recover from this quite frankly awful procedure. (10 replies)
... I would suggest giving the conservative treatment a chance to work. You won't have to wait a long time to find out if you are better, and it would be best if they didn't have to go back in and reoperate on the same disc. If you have two failed discectomies, you will most likely be looking at a fusion...which should be avoided if possible. The key is whether the... (10 replies)

... I've had 2 microdisectomy at L5/S1 and still have daily pain but nothing like before 2nd surgery. I also have partial leg/foot numbness on left leg which is most likely permanent. Some days it seems worse than others (like today). I was thinking of getting an inversion table to use for 5-15 minutes a day to help stretch my back to take some of the everyday pressure that... ... Any advice appreciated. I had microdisectomy l5-s1/ hemilaminectomy 8 months ago. Surgery per say went well. I still have sciatica here and there. My main constant issue is the deep deep butt ache as well as the area of the lower right back towards top of hip that just aches all the time. I walk for maybe 15-20 minutes at a time. I would love to go for a longer period but it... (18 replies)
... I'm about to go through my 2nd bilateral microdisectomy surgery on the same disk (L4/L5) basically 5 months to the day that I had my first surgery. Has anyone had 2 surgeries on the same disk ? I like to get people's experience with this. Thanks. (1 replies)
... What is the best way to clean hardwood floors? Meaning the safest way. I am5 1/2 weeks post hemi-laminectomy/microdisectomy. I ask because i spilled a half gallon of oj this morning and it went every where. I cleaned it up on hands and knees with no excessive stretching or reaching instead of mopping. Prior to surgery this is how i would have normally cleaned my hardwoods.... (1 replies)
... I am sorry you are still experiencing your sciatic pain. I know many wake up and have total relief...two laminectomies/discectomies later I can tell you that has not been my experience or many others...and this should not panic you, its just as normal as total relief right away, depending on each persons own set of issues. Such as how compressed and therefore bruised your... (7 replies)
... My problems all started back in November of 2011. Started a new stretching program as well as yoga and i felt really good. Bam week and a half later i started waking up in the mornings with terrible hip pain that gradually got so bad i was walking crooked.
