... I've heard lemon juice with sugar or salt works. I just use an exfoliating sponge, that seems to work well for me. I also occasionally use an exfoliating body wash by Aveeno. (2 replies)
... I just started using this moisturizing self tanner. It moisturizes great and I like the color alot, but it doesn't seem to last, meaning it gets blotchy after a couple days. It says on the bottle for best results to exfoliate first with some other Aveeno product (forgot the name), which I don't do. Could this be what's causing the blotchiness? Is it really necessary to do... (5 replies)
... I have fair skin as well and I bought the one for medium skin tones. The lotions for light skin tones don't work well. They either take forever for the results, or they just don't work at all. I made sure to get the medium one... and it works perfectly. I personally think that the medium works better (as far as all tanning lotions go)... it's faster, but not too fast like the... ... By the way I didnt notice ANY tanner smell with the aveeno, but I only used it two days cause Im lazy. ... (18 replies)
... I've never found a tanner that isn't orange and probably never will. It sucks, but at least I'm not the only one. ... (75 replies)
... I've tried exfoliating and than reapplying, but like you said, all that scrubbing just takes off the color so it almost defeates the purpose of reapplying the tanner in the first place. It's really hard to figure out. ... (6 replies)
... oliated before I first used it, but I haven't since then. From what I understand, when you exfoliate, along with the dead skin, etc., you're also taking off the tanner that you already had on. So, the way I see it, if I exfoliate every time I use it, I'll never get anywhere and I'll always be back at square one. ... (6 replies)
... Any other thoughts? (5 replies)
... Will it make it last longer, though? It just seems like I get some good color going, and I let it dry completely before dressing, etc. each time, but then it just washes off when I shower again, and then I have to start all over again. :dizzy: I'm so frustrated I'm about to go back to the tanning bed. :( (5 replies)
... Yes, that is where the blotchiness comes from. It usually occurs around the knees, elbows and ankles more than anywhere else because the skin tends to be rougher and drier there and the pigment hangs on to the dry skin better. Exfoliate and it makes a huge difference. (5 replies)
... So, it gets blotchy because I don't exfoliate? Will the tan be more even and last longer if I do? (5 replies)
... YES.....Exfoliating is a MUST before self tanning. You get rid of all those dead skin cells. You can use sugar or kosher salt to exfoliate. Add a little to shower gel (don't put water with it until you are ready to rinse). You'll notice the difference. (5 replies)
... I like this thread :D -------------------- Face Face Wash: Noxema. I know it's sort of "motherly", but it works so well, smells fresh and does not dry out my skin which even Cetaphil does! Cheap Moisturizer: Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15 (it smells bad, but it works great!) More expensive Moisturizer: It's not too, too moisturizing, but it does... (10 replies)
