... musashi The heading of you Question "Should I marry a girl with bioploar?" seems like a simple "yes of course if you want to," but the bigger problem is with the family. A wise person once told me when having a hard time with a relationship think "whats the worst that can happen"?, and then look at that person and think " is the relationship worth the risk?" I've found... (36 replies)
... Your a smart guy. If you want to hear, what you want to hear, just read these threads. If you want to hear the reality, what you need to hear, then ask yourself the tuff questions. Did you figure it out yet? (36 replies)
... I think that when you truly love someone amazing things are possible ... you can see the GOOD in her .. the WELL her and that is LOVE. No, I don’t think that love is all it takes to make a marriage work .. far from it .. but it’s a heck of a start :) My advice would be to do what you are already doing. Continue contact as best as you can .. even if that means... (36 replies)

... I really feel for you. I do not know if everyone who has bipolar experiences the same degree of problems as one woman I knew but after meeting her and her husband (a true saint) I know I could never marry someone with bipolar. I do not have the patience. Since the married couple I know have had a child I can tell you what it has been like for the husband. They have been... (36 replies)
... We as humans always put ourselves in the best of light when we tell "Our Side" or part in a story. Nothing wrong with it, it just is. Her Mom is sicker then her daughter and obviously they play the "game", she who is the sickest wins. Your a smart guy. If you want to hear, what you want to hear, just read these threads. If you want to hear the reality, what you need to... (36 replies)

... I've read all the threads to your question. I don't know what to tell you about your question. I do have one possible solution you can reasearch along with your attorney. In some states there is a thing called friend of the court. It is thru a judge who is convienced you are a better person to act in the best intrest of your girlfriend. It could give you legal access to your... (36 replies)
... I just wanted to say that I am bipolar and I see where all of this is coming from. Her mother certainly has some issues about your lifestyle. She probably also knows that lifestyle has a dramatic effect on someone with bipolar. Also.. it is a practical thing that the girl's mother is power of attorney over her daughter's money. When a bipolar person goes into a manic state he... (36 replies)

... My friend, who is bipolar, got married to someone who loved her immensely, but eventually, they couldnt cope together because my fren tried suicidin many many times, and last time she did ( by hanging), he jus divorced her. I believe it is difficult to live wid a bipolar person..and the person just has to accept that bitter fact. (36 replies)
... First off, like the others, I would like to say that you are a saint for providing support for your girlfriend. It is obvious that you are madly in love with this girl, and that is justification enough that you get married. YES MARRY HER! It will be a wonderful experience for you both, and a positive refrain for her. Furthermore, since you would not get married for (primarily)... (36 replies)
... Thank you for the kind words, fallen_angel. I feel so much like the whole world is against me on this matter. This board is the only place I feel otherwise. My whole family has been saying for me to run away from this relationship for the past two years. Her mother hates me. Her illness has caused much distress. My friends have basically abandoned me and rightfully so,... (36 replies)
... hey musashi, im so sorry to hear about the way things have gone lately. i think you have the right attitude, its best to put the child first, if tests prove its yours, and just try and concentrate on that. i think you have done a wonderful job supporting your (ex?) partner through all of this. and on top of that you've had the awful mother to deal with. im not talking about... ... Update on my situation: She has gone to an assisted living facility about two hours away. She called me two days after she got there and stated that she had sex with one of the people at the community the night before. I knew this was going to happen. She had been in the psychiatric hospital for 2 months and could not easily have sex while in there. I had asked her to... (36 replies)
... the baby can not be put up for adoption without your concent both of the parents have to sign the papers for the adoption to go though. I don't think you would want the baby in the foster home system it is a very f-ed up system the child can get lost and with mom having a MI the system will be against her and don't let grandma have the child. If you can take the child or... (36 replies)
... I surely hope you get ahold of a lawyer and find out your legal rights to the baby. And maybe he/she can draw something up to give to her mother so she knows that she is in the United States and we have laws here. I am wondering even if you married your girlfriend would she still listen to you over her parents. Sounds like she needs more than a marriage certifate... (36 replies)
... You will need to get a paternity test done after the birth for sure. Legally you don't have to be married to the mother to have rights re: what is done with a child that is legally your child. (36 replies)
... Thank you, fallen_angel, I appreciate your comments. I have also been in relationships before where my partner's parent(s) did not like me but never anything to this degree. The mother definately has mental problems herself but is undiagnosed and untreated. I have never met anyone with such control issues and so much ability to hate and be spiteful, which is saying quite a... (36 replies)
... Thank you. It may be my only good quality :) The fetus appears to be healthy and no problems have arisen. Abortion is not a possibility (she is 5 1/2 months pregnant) and was never even a consideration. Being catholic, her mother forbid her to have an abortion, rather opting for giving the child up for adoption once it is born or putting it into foster care. My... (36 replies)
... hi there, thanks for answering those couple of queries i had about your post. i totally understand what you're saying about the sexual promisciousity with bipolar, if there are doubts there i guess you will get a paternity test after the baby is born. ive been in a relationship where i havent got on with my partner's mother and i know how difficult it can make things. its...
