... one who is bipolar must be on a mood stabilizer such as Lithium, Depakote, or Tegretol, or they will certainly switch into the "high" position. If you've been on Prozac ONLY for 12 years, and you have only experienced periods of depression, I highly doubt the diagnosis of you being bipolar. ... (5 replies)
... not sure. I've only been to one dr that gave me lithium and depakote. Didn't help, so I went back on Prozac which my family dr. has had me on for approx 12 years. That seems to help, but I sill will go thru periods of being down. ... (5 replies)
Not working

... It does make things better but I still swing a little. I think I could do better on a higher dose but my doctor won't go past 250. Before lamcital I was on lithium for eight years. I think it a better stabilizer but it did keep me a little flat. I may go back, or ask if I could go on a combo of lithium and lamictal. ... (4 replies)

... Hi Becky I'm in the UK so I guess things aren't the same here as in the US, but it sounds like you need to get a decent doc if that's an option? I'm not familiar with all the drugs you are on, but if they are not working (and it sounds as if you've had problems for a long time?) it needs sorting pronto. Diagnosed with ADD when I was 5, Diagnosed FINALLY correctly with Bi-polar at the age of 12. I am now 24.
