I was on Lithium and Prozac for a long time. The Prozac worked when I was depressed, but when the depression went away it sent me into terrible rapid cycles. I had a relative who was diagnoses Bipolar as well and they were prescribed Neurotin. I am currently on 1200mg of Neurontin a day. I was at 1800mg but that just wiped me out completely. And yes it does help you sleep. Chemically, what it does is slow down the brain. So sometimes you feel dizzy or just zone out, sometime it has a sedating effect depending on how much you take. I had to go down to a lower dosage because I have to drive alot... (2 replies)

Thanks for your kind comments. Your right, I thought once the depression was gone I could quit the meds. It does not work that way. Funny thing, the stuff that worked for you did nothing for me. Spents monthes and monthes with Depakote,
Zoloft, and Neurotin, no luck.
