... I was recently on Loestrin 24 FE. I was on that for about 2 years. I had to stop taking those because it was giving me terrible breast issues. My breasts were so sore for about 6 months. I was NOT pregnant, no tumors, no sign of cancer (I was assured that cancer doesn't hurt). Upon stopping usage, I felt 100% better. The doctor prescribed that I possibly need to take a lower... ... Thanks so much Kellis & sheridan - that really helps - i figured that most people who say "alesse" here are referring to the brand name and not to the generic, but it helps that you say that most of your patients take the generic...I will probably switch considering that the brand name costs 3x more (3 replies)
... has anyone been on both, or on aviane in particular, or have any comments? ... (3 replies)

... Don't be worried. The drugs are chemically identical. In many cases, generics are even made by the same company that makes the brands. Although I've never used Alesse, I have switched from brands to generics when generics were introduced to the market. I've never had a problem. (3 replies)
... Hey all - I have been on alesse for approximately 3 months now -- however aviane (which is the generic) is 3x cheaper than alesse, but I was just afraid to go on it because generics make me nervous. now, I know that everybody has their different opinions on generics (believe me, I've done a lot of research on the viewpoints since I'm scared like that lol) but I was... ... I could not take lutera because it was making my mouth break out in cold sores every couple of weeks so I called the pharmacy after 3 months of it to switch to aviane and it solved the problem. Also, my back isn't as broke out on this one . Anyone have any similar experiences? ... (1 replies)

... I've been on the generic form of Alesse (Aviane), for 3 years. Prior to that, I was on Alesse for a year, Ortho Tri-Cylen for a year, and Alesse again for a year. I had no changes whatsoever in switching from the Alesse to the Aviane. No pregnancy, no missed periods, no spotting. The only time I had any issues were when switching from Alesse to Ortho and back. While it is... (14 replies)
... I promise you, generics are the exact same thing and they work the same way... I was on Aviane for a while and had no problems. Anyone who contests that is imagining things. I guess things could be different in countries other than the US... ... (14 replies)

... I took Orthotri-cyclen for almost 8 years before trying a few other pills out there. I noticed an immediated difference in my moodiness upon stopping! I used to be very emotional for about 3 weeks of the month. I tried Alesse which was okay, but I experienced breakthrough bleeding. Other than that, I realized that a monophasic pill was best for me. I think the steady... (2 replies)
... Also, if I want to switch from generic to the brand name, do I just need to ask at the pharmacy, or will I need a new prescription? ... (2 replies)
... hinking we're out there trying to push brands. I push generics. If we can sell them, the FDA is clearly certain that they do just as well of a job. I'm taking generic Alesse, in the form of Barr Labratories' Aviane, and it works wonderfully. ... (14 replies)
... As far as the actual physical difference between the brand and the generic goes, there isn't much to be concerned about. The active ingredients in the medications will always be exactly the same. ... (6 replies)

... I'd recommend searching this board, there's about five differnt posts listing all the things people have experienced after going off the pill. While im not one of those that have stopped (just started) those posts have alot of really good advice/warnings/etc. As for other pills people liked, im pretty good on Alesse (aviane, generic) for the moment.
