... If you do any research about any of the pills, you will see that spotting and breakthrough bleeding are probably THE most COMMON side effect of being on the pill. It really doesn't matter how long you've been on it, it can and does happen to women on it, regardless. I was on the pill 14 years and periodically had spotting and/or bleeding between periods.
