... ell and not being a doctor but a person who has had at least 25 clots myself, I would say since it is the top of the knee to almost the hip does NOT sound like a blood clot, since most are deep vein thrombosis which would cause the pain behind your knee, not in front. ... (3 replies)

... There is an 'indicator' test for phlebitis which involves taking a step forward while keeping the trailing foot flat on the ground. If you get severe pain in the calf there is a strong possiblity that you have phlebitis. It usually only occurs in one leg so you can compare the amount of pain while testing each leg in turn. ...
