... Hi! Platelets are the tiniest parts of blood, and in a CBC they are a part of the red blood cell count. Someone once described them to me like being tiny blood 'flakes'. If you have too little you might be at risk of your blood not clotting properly, like if you have a wound it wont heal as quick as it should. ... (13 replies)

Dirty blood

... The view of my live blood in a microscope has normal red, white, & platelets. A few crystals, maybe uric acid, & many many small pieces of "dirt" floating around. edit;Maybe calcium crystals? The crystals are much larger that the "dirt" but smaller than the RBC. The size of the dirt is about 1/1000th of a RBC & about a 100 for each RBC. They look like pieces of sand... (1 replies)
