... Most of the time the platelet count will rise if there is an infection or inflammation in the body. A count of 400K isn't that out of range. I don't have a spleen, so my counts can climb. My hematologist doesn't worry unless mine go above a million and stay there. ... (5 replies)
... sorry amy, aspirin has nothing to do with the platelet number, it simply keeps the blood flowing better if you have high platelet count. your numbers are not too high, actually they are at the high end of normal, but i have seen my counts swing from 388 to over a million the last 6 years... ... ... i would say that in your case high plat are the result of your lack of spleen. the spleen s function is to fight off infection and get rid of used blood contents such as "used" red blood cells platlets etc. thus since you do not have a sleen platelets will build up in your blood. ...
