... Blood pressure medications lower the blood pressure by an average of 6-7 points systolic and 4-5 points diastolic. You are on two medications, which could lower your blood pressure down to around 185/110 at the highest and down to 145/80's on average.
Caffeine and smoking are huge causes of high blood pressure, so your bp medications have to fight twice as hard to get over... (4 replies)
... Fluctuating Blood pressure.
I have been seeing a specialist regarding my blood pressure to determine if I even actually have High blood pressure. My family Doctor put me on BP meds because I was constantly 140/90-ish in her office (When no Doctor in the room with me I was 116/82). I went to the specialist who has weaned me off the meds and monitor regularly to see how I do.... (5 replies)
... Has anyone seen this phenomenon before?
My typical BP numbers are around 140/90. Last Saturday, I spent an afternoon at a lake with my wife, just chatting, relaxing and listening to the waves. It was very calming, and I felt peaceful for the rest of the day.
That night, I took my BP and was shocked it went down to 117/83! Not believing my eyes, I took it again - this... (2 replies)

... I have the same thing, my blood pressure was 123/82 yesterday at the evening. Today, when I woke up I felt breathless and it was 131/90 with heart rate of 94. Actually, I'm not worried and I will try to take Magnesium Chelated 200mg to 300mg before I go to sleep, I advice you to do with same as long as your kidneys are ok.
Are you on anti-hypertensive meds?

I am 39. I didn't understand your comment about my diastolics. Can you expand on that? Right now my bp numbers are 147/89, 136/92 and 131/90. And I feel a little tightness on the right side of my neck.
Evelyn, I recently developed that dry cough, too. That was that bird flu thing I wrote about a week ago. I had had a really bad cough when they put me on... (110 replies)
... Hi all I have been switching doses of these 2 meds for about 4 weels now. My bp started out at about 150-160/100/110 at the docs. So I started out with maxzide (a generic form actually) 25 mg/37.5. That didn't help at all so then I went to 2 of those pills. Still didn't help. Then I was back on one of those and 1 5mg tablet of Lisinopril. My bp went down to about 131/90. But... (3 replies)
... readings, then I would not worry too much. If the trend continues each day where your systolics are above 135 mm Hg and your diastolics are near 90 or above, then I would go after it aggressively. You could try reduing the amount of sodium that you intake and see if some progress is made. ... (4 replies)

... an unrelated problem I've been having recently called my attention to this.
For a while now, occasionally I'd suddenly start to feel bad, I'll get weird pains in my arms, occasionally my legs, sometimes a light tingly feeling in my face, sometimes I'd feel a little lightheaded but not all the time, I don't ever recall getting dizzy, sometime there are other symptoms like just... ... Beewee, you might find something interesting in my daily, hourly blood pressure patterns.
My average BP for 2003 was 151/96 based on 1032 readings. Pretty awful for having worked hard on lowering my blood pressure for FIVE years! :( Thousands of readings, many medicine changes, diet changes, environment changes, and yet, the net fruit of my labor was an average blood... (8 replies)
... My own personal opinion is that "average" diastolic blood pressure is healthiest near 70 and is less healthy as the average increases from 70. That said, an "average" diastolic blood pressure near 80 is still pretty damn good! :)
The reason why I focus on diastolic is because diastolic pressure is when the circulatory system is at rest, or between beating. The higher the... (5 replies)

... Just wanted to throw some more bp data your way. From 1998 thru 2010, I took my blood pressure 31,000 times, trying to learn all I could learn about blood pressure. I know that everyone is different, but I don't think that I am the only one whose blood pressure acts like mine does.
Anyways, not to let all those unique 31,000 blood pressure data go to waste...

Blood Pressure and heartrate varies all day long. You can take three bp readings in a row and get three different bp readings and three different hr readings.
All three of your readings seem very healthy and normal, IMHO, although your heartrate is at the lower of the normal range. Are you on any medication which is known to slow the heart... (10 replies)
... When I was first diagnosed with hypertension, I was all freaked out about it, and it didn't help that in the course of one day, I might take fifteen different readings, and have them range from 120/65 to 190/115, there just didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for the ups and downs. I finally found a precription drug program that was effective in turning the "trend" down for... (10 replies)
