... Well, you appear to have white coat. But, I suspect that you may actually have hypertenstion as well. While your morning readings might be fine. If they are going up from there throughout the day, I'd have to say you have hypertension. You should take an average of these home readings. Include morning, afternoon and evening samples. Use the average for evaluating where... (16 replies)
... I am back again! Today, I went to my doctor for getting my blood work results. When he took my BP. They were really high - 170/110 and 169/105. I was really tensed at that time. My pulse rate was something like 110. My doctor said my BP was extremely high and put me on hyzaar (50,25,12.5). I told my doctor that my BP readings fluctuate wildly and that this morning my... ... Just the fact that you have occasional readings of 135/80 should tell you that you probably have never had a hypertension problem in the first place. Remember, there are many things that can give false high readings of 160/90, but not many that can give false low readings. I would trust your readings of 135/80. It's probably even lower than that when you're lying down watching... (9 replies)
... If the cuff is too tight, then you will see higher readings as well. 109/70 last time I checked mine. I felt relaxed & good. When I feel stressed, it elevates. Really don't think that I belong on meds. at 33 & in excellent shape. At... (5 replies)
... I am on several medicines for HTN and get very frustated because I can never seem to come off of any of them. I take Covera twice a day, Metoprolol twice a day, Atacand once a day and Furosemide twice a day. My pressures still normally run 130-140's over 80-90's, even with all that medication. I have had all the tests in the world and they have found no "reason" for the... (5 replies)

... Three winters ago, I started having stroke level BP spikes. BP would be normal and then late in afternoon/early evening, BP would start going up until it reached levels around 220/120 with a heart rate around 135. I went to ER who left me in waiting room for 3 hours before I saw a doctor. By then it had dropped to less dangerous levels and after more meds and laying in... (2 replies)
... I'm 71 and relatively good health but have been overweight most of my life. Currently 5-11, 310 lbs. The only successful weight loss was on Atkins in 2000, loosing 100lbs. Kept off for 5 yrs. Again in 2011 lost 75lb but gained it back also. My BP has always been no more than 150/75. Usually it's been in the 140/70 range. I was diagnosed in 2012 with prostate cancer.... (0 replies)

... I recently stopped taking my Metoprolol abruptly. To make it long story short I'm 19 years old, weigh 120 pounds so doctors are very puzzled as to why my blood pressure is 170/100 & I have tachycardia as well. I recently had a ANA test which was positive but too low to diagnose me with anything apparently. I was prescribed 100 mg of Toprol XL, i'm in college, a biology &... (1 replies)
... That's a great idea, actually. Especially because it would seem that, logically, there would be a connection or two. From my understanding, your Blood Pressure is regulated by your Kidneys, your Hormones and your Nervous System. Now, we often hear that genetics or heredity is the cause of many young, healthy, hypertensives but... genetics/heredity isn't some kind of... (5 replies)
... Hi, I have found that over the years the only thing that helps to keep my pressure down in a doctors office is when I go into the examination room and before the doc gets in there I will take a deep breaths, hold it for the count of 4 open my mouth and quickly let the air out and drop my shoulder's down.Do this 5 or 6 times. By the time doc gets into the room my pressure... (15 replies)
... First, DC, this sort of wildly fluctuating BP is something that has happened to me many, many times, and I know how really scary it feels! But I'm 60 and I've survived them for decades. If you're an anxiety sufferer like me, then the anxiety just worsens the upward spiraling vicious cycle - high BP --> higher anxiety --> higher BP --> panic --> skyrocketing BP --> greater... ... My mother and father had stroke and died after years of suffering. Now, I am worried of my own high blood pressure because my BP is usually over 170/85 and sometimes over 200/90. My doctor wrote prescription for me but I don't have much trust on drugs knowing harmful side effect. I am eating garlic, onion, etc to thin my blood and reducing my sodium intake. Every day I...
