Have I misunderstood this?
My DIA has always been within the normal ranges (60-80) and I've only ever had a problem with the SYS. Does this mean a BP reading of, say, 150-65 is considered "normal?"

... My resting Blood Pressure usually runs about 140/65 or 135/69. I am 65 and never had trouble with high blood pressure until I got hashimoto thyroiditism (hypo). I take 180 mg Diovan. What concerns me is the low diastolic. Is this bad? (6 replies)

A. CAN I HAVE YOUR DOCTOR...PLEASE PLEASE! How logical she is, saying that aiming for 130/85 is good control.
B. More seriously, if I were you, getting a consistent 116/65 at home, I would definitely cut my dosage starting with the meds that are most bothersome; if none are, then I'd cut the most expensive (usually the ARB or the Norvasc:D) (11 replies)

1st off relax.When I feel anxious my 1st reading could be 137/85. My next reading could be 122/73 & the 3rd one will be 116/65. B/P varies as much as 30 points in a few minutes. Don't let it get to you. I know that it is hard, but trust me. The less that I think about it, the happier I am. Take a log of your B/P readings a couple of times a week. I have done this for... My BP averages around 135-145 / 65-70. From my understanding this places my systolic pressure about 15-20mm too high, yet my diastolic is 10-15 below "optimal". Does anyone know what causes the large difference between the two? And should I be worried? I am only 20 yrs old!!

... Pretty much agree. Took my last 1/2 pill about 3 days ago and already feel much better. Heart rate is between 65-75. Just trying the 25 mg HCTZ but my blood pressure has been between 140/147 systolic and 91/103 diastolic.
