It is a long road I know but if you do it n leaps and bounds I think it will be harder but try the smaller dose that you can with a pill cutter or even breaking off pieces with your nail to get there to really wean off this drug and I think that will be easier on you and your adrenals too. good luck. ... I was told too that there would be an "adjustment period" with each dose dropped that to wait at least two weeks before dropping down the next dose and staying there till my body got use to the new dose. ... Well here we go.. Been a week at approximately 25 mg of Atenolol (from 100 mg at first, but 50 mg most recently). Had a couple days where I could feel a bit more anxious than usual, but it is evening itself out. Blood pressure sticking in the 115-125 on top range with 75-85 on the bottom. (10 replies)
... UPDATE: Stayed on the 50 mg of Atenolol until Monday (Dec. 9). Dropped it to 25 mg then... BP is still in normal range 120/80 or so with heart rate varying (it's cold here and I know that can play a factor) from 45 to 80 at different junctures in the day. ... While I appreciate your concern, it is best (and my doctor concurs) for me at this point to keep foods I enjoy in my diet in moderation. If that means eating three slices of a medium pizza and a couple breadsticks at my favorite pizzeria once a week to stay on track, then, so be it. (10 replies)
