... Thanks so much ZuZu! funny about you saying when u got your friends to test them the closest I could get was asking my 7 year old to do it......she was worse than me!! made me smile to think its not just me!! Today I sort of pushed through the symptoms and eventually the off balance sensation lessened but I got a weird feeling in my legs like they were weak and almost like... (5 replies)
Zuzu8/question
Jun 25, 2003
... Zuzu8, You seem so knowledgable on blood pressure, I thought I would ask you this question since I can't get an answer out of my doctor. I have high cholestrol but blood pressure has never been an issue for me. In October my family and I were hit by a car and I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. They started me on Tropol XL but it didn't bring it down enough. ... (10 replies)
... I had HTN on and off for three years before the CHF diagnosis. It seems kind of sad to me that now I have a medication that works. . .I already have irreparable damage to my heart. I'm Stage D, end stage. Yeah, I have had tests out the wazoo, but I have not had a workup by an endocrinologist. I did have a positive test for plasma free metanephrines, but the 24-hour urine... ... Most of the day, one does not sit quietly. So, if you want to know your "true" active blood pressure, you need to take it right after sitting down. If you wait until your are totally at rest, you are taking your blood pressure under the best of circumstances, and not under normal circumstances. I want to know what my blood pressure is under all circumstances, not just... (6 replies)

Blood pressure

... I am glad you pointed this out because I have been having anxiety attacks about it. I thought the bp HAD to be 120/80 or lower. I take mine at home and usually get somewhere around 135/75 probably because I am quite nervous about it BUT not as nervous as I am in Dr office. When I am there I feel my heart pounding and he gets up to 160/75 but its only when I am there. I had a... (2 replies)

... Hi Babyoreo- Wow....you sure have been through your share of experimentation. Most of us have and I guess this board wouldn't exist if all it took was li'l ol' pill that worked for everyone everytime! Let's see, you've tried LOPRESSOR (beta blocker) NORVASC (calcium channel blocker) CLONODINE( alpha blocker) TARKA (combo of an Ace Inhibitor and Calcium channel blocker)... (8 replies)
... Hi everybody- Okay. Here's the scoop. Before we get deeper into conspiracy theories, this report was issued by the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure. (it's the 7th report they've issued over the years) This is a Government funded study. The guidelines were prepared by a special committee of the... (19 replies)
... I presume this cough is of recent onset. If you've never had this cough before, after three years it's unlikely to be a side effect of the Atenelol UNLESS you are or have become prone to bronchospastic disease (i.e.asthma). Atenelol is CONTRINDICATED in people with any kind of problems like this. Are you, or have you recently been diagnosed with asthma? Apart from the cough... (1 replies)
My BP Check

... Hi everybody! Okay. MOXIE- So you had skips on Accupril and are now on Diovan and the skips disappeared, right? My big question is: Did you go off the Accupril for a while and were drug AND skip free before you went onto Diovan? Gosh, we are all so different. I never had skips on previous drugs, only Diovan. But I'm happy your BP is really controlled and you sound good and... (21 replies)

... Hi Nancy and Kat- Will find a new doctor for sure.....(I took my cat to a new vet the other day and they were SO THOROUGH, before, during and after the examination, (plus they did a blood SuperChem work-up that was more comprehensive than almost anything I've ever seen for humans!) that I wished this VET was my doctor!!! As for Diovan vs.other meds. When first diagnosed... (21 replies)
... Hi Charlie 1- Important questions: What is your friend's BP normally? How often has it been taken by a doctor in the past 6 months? And what were the readings? Is your friend otherwise healthy i.e. has he had a full check-up recently, or was this just a one-time private or even drug-store reading? Meds should only be prescribed when BP is sustained over time at 140/90 or... (8 replies)
130/90
Jan 21, 2003
... A BP reading of 140/90 or higher is now considered by most physicians, (IF it is sustained over a period of time) something that should be treated. That doesn't necessarily mean with drugs. Lifestyle changes might be all that is necessary. Nux- readings below 140/90 are probably not dangerous, if you are healthy otherwise. If a doctor wants to give drugs for readings lower...
