After much trauma of a hemorrhoidectomy, it is natural (and a good sign) that your anus muscles tighten and contract. Be thankful you have not lost any muscle tightening! As long as you are passing stool you should be fine.. just make sure you are trying your best to firm up those stools the best you can. Most report only being able to pass finger sized stools but that is completely natural after going under the knife so please don't worry yourself too much. After 3 weeks - 6 weeks things should be a whole lot more normal for you.

AZander:

Thanks. I'm just really nervous. Also, can you tell me when does the pain after bm's subside?! I am still in extreme pain after bm's (very intense burning that leaves me nauseated). I'm okay about 5-10 mins after bm's and throughout the day. It's just immediately after them that I feel like I'm in hell and curse having anything done.
