Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Message Board

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Board Index

Something similiar has happend to me, I had acdf surgery of my c5 c6 in Feb 2010 for a degenerated disc. I had some pain into my biceps prior to the surgery, but no numbness. After the back surgery, i had a pulling sensation down my left arm, extreme pain in the forearm, and numbness in my thumb, index and middle finger. They did an EMG about 3 mos after back surgery, and it showed moderately severe median nerve damage most consistent with carpal tunnel. I have done no activities to bring this on whatsoever. I just think that it is odd that the carpal tunnel came about immediately after the back surgery. The hand surgeron said he would do the carpal tunnel release surg. but he feel that i have a nerve entrapment coming from higher up,, possibly the bracial plexus area, and he wants me to get evaluated for thoracic outlet syndrome. I am schedule for the release but not sure how much it will help me. I was also told that i may have cubital tunnel. but the cubital tunnel did not show up on the EMG. Estella
