... apparently my mom worked in an area of rsd/pain center when she was a nurse. she said its possible i have it. if this is so, it would have arisen from tendonitis. unless im mistaken, rsd is pain caused by pain. i read in a book that you can learn pain;when you do something and it hurts, you learn to associate that activity with the pain and so get it whenever you take part in... ... my doc gave me injection in carpal tunnel; says since it gave some relief, I have cts despite neg emg. Surgery likely. Other problem: dr gave me injection for dequevain's tendonitis. He now says if no relief, I need surgery. When given the injection for dequavain's, I got a rush of an electric shock into my thumb. It's been a week and I still have that "shock" Anyone... ... I've had the exact same symptoms. Little shocks (specially on the inside of the thumb) if I shake my wrist. My doctor seems to think its tendonitis. I went to a post-op nerve and muscle conduction study and everything came back fine (infact comparing to the pre-op results these were way better, normal in fact). ... like advil for a week or so. If imobilizing your wrist doesn't alleviate the pain, along with the advil or aleve, make an appt. with your Doctor. Simply cases of tendonitis will usually go away on their own unless you've torn a ligament. Arthritis can be controlled with advil. ... (4 replies)
