I am asking this for my sister. She currently lives in Honduras (grew up in the US.). She has developed a bad cold/flu. She was told by 2 different Doctors not to drink cold water. She, and myself can't find any reasoning behind this. Does anyone know why the dr's would recomend this?
That makes no sense whatsoever. Drink all the water you can.

If you are very feverish/queasy, ice water might be a bit of a shock, but in general, just drink.
Maybe they are thinking on the lines of warm things for a cold/flu; like hot tea, soups. Sometimes cold things can actually make your throat more uncomfortable and hurt going down. Warm things will keep the head opened up more and warm you up! Just an idea. Should really eat/drink whatever sounds best to YOU.
