... I would go back to the doctor if you don't feel better soon. A cough like that can go into pneumonia quickly.
Is there a reason you are only taking 1 ibuprofen every 4 hours? You can take up to 4 every 6 hours-it will really help with fever/chills and pain/inflammation.

Colds and Flu are a Virus and will run their course, anything between 6-10 days maybe longer before you feel back to normal.
If you are at home keep warm and take something like "Lemsip" every 4 hrs.
Drink lots of fluids, Lemon sliced in boiled water with a tsp of honey is very good and will soothe your throat.
