... How long of a recovery period do I have to wait to see if the apicoectomy is successful? ... (1 replies)
... To me, it seems very strange that you had the sensation before and after the apicoectomy. I only had the sensation following the apico. Before the apico, I couldn't put any pressure on the front/face of the tooth--not even the pressure of my upper lip against it, let alone the tooth brush brushing the tooth properly. It's now been 6 months since I had the surgery, and I can... (8 replies)
... I had an apicoectomy on my tooth front teeth 7 weeks ago. It was sore at first, but the pain that I had in the one tooth before the surgery was gone. ... (1 replies)

... Hi all, I have had a ton of dental work done for the past 20 years. My top 6 front teeth were root-canaled 10 years ago and a bridge put in. The bridge never fit right so now my new dentist is making me a new one. My two front teeth both have abcesses, which a re-root canal cannot fix. The infection is too high up. My dentist has referred me to a surgeon to do an... (6 replies)
Apicoectomy
Jan 6, 2005
... I had two Apicos about two months ago. I was put under (I can't stand the pressure, pain, sound of work on my teeth). They were my front two teeth, so access was easy. It took around an hour to do both. I woke up in no pain, and really was okay with the Vicodan they gave me for discomfort. THe stitches were sort of itchy and unsightly, but again, these were my front teeth. ... (2 replies)
... Hi - just wanted to post an update after I had the apico surgery on my two front teeth last month. I had IV sedation for this procedure and the worst part was the doctor could not find a vein for the IV. This happens to me all the time, unfortunately. The surgery took longer than expected, apparently the dentist found two additional abcesses. The afternoon of my... (0 replies)
... done and only with novacaine. You might have some swelling. There will be a few stitches, and some after discomfort, but not really pain. I am not sure of the cost as I do have dental insurance, but it is similar in price to a root canal. Not to worry, if I can do this with only novacaine than how bad can it be!!! ... (6 replies)
... I just want to add that I, too, have had problems with only one molar, but after I had that apicoectomy years ago on that molar, I decided to embark on a really intensive oral care regimen to ward off possible future problems with other teeth and my gums. ... (8 replies)
... would fix the problem because of the abscess. If I retreated and the problem continued and it didn't heal, I would end up needing the apicoectomy. He said the apicoectomy was the better of the two options, so that it was I chose to do. ... (13 replies)
... Yikes, 3G's for one tooth. Actually what I was trying to suggest/ask with this thread was that it seems that my dentist and the oral surgeon are pushing me to remove 4 teeth that have never bothered me (not even once) and 1 tooth that rarely bothers me. I just got the feeling they were after money rather than actually helping me. Is it normal to remove wisdom teeth at age... (10 replies)
... is the total cost for the removal of the 5 teeth and anesthesia. Assuming you're not covered by insurance you might actually be receiving a "cash discount". ... (10 replies)

... i was told by my dentist that most of my porcelain fused to metal crowns were old and needed to be replaced. he started with my bottom molar, after the temp was on i had pain, went back in and was told i need a apicoectomy, the tooth already had a root canal done. he counted 4 more crowns that needed to be replaced in total. why replace a crown if it's not hurting? he... ... If you don't get an apicoectomy, when it is recommended by an endodontist, many bad things can happen to you. Infection, pain, etc... The cost for an apicoectomy is usually at least $1200 depending on which area of the country you live. If you cannot afford it, you may want to consider a medical credit card of some sort. They often have very low interest rates. (9 replies)

... Hi there! I haven't posted here in a while - will try to give a background without being too long! I have had dental problems my entire life. I am 39 years old now. About 12 years ago, I had many root canals (almost on all of my teeth), and had a six tooth bridge on my front six teeth. This never seemed to sit right, and I had a lot of gum problems. About 3 years ago,... (4 replies)
... Wow, I can’t believe I’ve finally found the thread that seems to outline everything I’ve been struggling with – I thought I had read and re-read every online thread about root canals that don’t heal until I found this. Warning: Overly LONG reply coming… I had my first root canal in mid-July on tooth #2 which is the way-back molar on the upper right. Lesson #1: I had been... (91 replies)
... I had a root canal on a lower molar about 6 years ago. I started getting pus/blood filled pockets of my gum for the last 2 years. My family dentist said not to worry about it. I start getting exterme pain and in July of 2009 I had a apicoectomy. I redevelovped the pockets and pain in Jan 2010. The endodontist did 2 more apicoectomies since Jan 2010. He then did another... ... I too have been having some problems with a previously treated (root canaled) tooth. I could tell I was having problems because from time to time the tooth would feel like it was abcessed again and I would usually develop a big lump on my gum above the tooth. Antibiotics always took care of the problem, but most recently they didn't do the trick completely. I went to an... (2 replies)
... Hi all! I have such bad teeth and always have had. Long story short- I've had 5 root canals, apicoectomy (sp), numerous extractions, 2 crowns, 2 teeth cut out (cause they broke off at the gum), anyway, now, on the few teeth I've got left, and would like to keep, I need 4 fillings, and 3 crowns. I still owe my old dentist $400 and had to change cause I had a bad tooth ache... (3 replies)
... Boy, do I understand what you're going through! That sounds so much like my tooth! It will feel "okay" for periods, but then after I eat, the tooth will start "acting up" again. I am beginning to think I'll never be able to chew on this tooth again! I honestly can't calculate all the money I've spent on this one tooth; a crown; 2 root canals; an Apicoectomy...its been hundreds... (17 replies)
