... Well, I ended up needing 2 1/2 hours of periodontal surgery. Apparently, there was an infection in the bone supporting the last tooth (#31). The bone was scraped and grafts were placed. The periodontist says that the crown on tooth #30 is fine. Hopefully, this (and the the $1,350 I was charged) will take care of the problem. Thank you all for your input and support! (5 replies)
... here as that kind of pain and swelling usually means an infection. I would also make an appointment with an endodontist and have that tooth checked out. If the crown did not properly fit bacteria can get underneath it causing an infection. The antibiotics should help, but the source of the problem needs to be found. ... (5 replies)

I am in much the same position as you were Solofelix regarding the dental problem but unfortunately my Dentist retired and I can't get listed with another in my area , although not in pain I have to have the broken root removed and like you its gum level and a big tooth ..it was the site of a crown which was a badly fitted one and bite was never correct so it kept coming out...
