Hello,
I recently spoke with my doctor regarding my FBS levels. I get blood work yearly and I am not a diabetic. I always ask about the results and he always says they are fine. I asked for copies of the test results recently and was concerned to find that my FBS levels were above normal. I spoke with my doctor about this and he said that he feels the guidelines are too strict and he feels that the average BS level is 120.
I do not want to be diagnosed a diabetic and I have made changes to my diet and have recently lost 18 pounds. I have PCOS and Psoriasis which I know both increase your risk of Type 2. I am willing to do anything to avoid a diabetes diagnosis from going in my medical record due to insurance issues. I have purchased a Relion Glucose Meter from Wal-mart and test my blood sugar every morning. I will admit some results are 126 or higher. The highest I have ever had was 144 while I was sick. This has only happened a few times and some were not true fasting results (less than 8 hours since I last ate) I have noticed by BS levels are only high in the morning (and is happens very rarely, usually runs 110 or lower) and are normal (77 to 104) throughout the rest of the day. Since my BS levels are only high in the morning, does this mean I am diabetic? And should I do something about this? I do not want to be diagnosed formally in my medical records because this may adversely affect my ability to get health insurance. I am exercising and eating right and losing weight. My A1C was 5.3. Any suggestions on why my BS is only high in the morning and can this happen in nondiabetics? I have read conflicting opinions on the internet. Any advice would be helpful.
